Prof. Norbert Perrimon is a longtime innovator in *Drosophila* molecular genetic technologies and arthropod cell screening. In 2004, his laboratory developed the first genome-wide RNAi cell screening platform. He later founded the Drosophila RNAi Screening Center to make cell-based RNAi technology available to the community.

In 2018, his laboratory reported the first genome-wide CRISPR knockout cell screening platform for *Drosophila* cell studies. Subsequently, he oversaw expansion of the technology to cell lines from other species, including other insect and tick cells, and to other types of genetic perturbation, including CRISPR activation.

As a mentor to graduate students, postdoctoral fellow, and others, Norbert encourages technological innovation and independent thinking, while at the same time fostering collaboration within and beyond his group.

For the ACSF, Prof. Perrimon provides senior leadership, mentorship, and scientific oversight.
